Dr. Mmatalenta Tilly MaphosaPharmacist

Mmatalenta is a Pharmacist with specialization in Toxicology. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Global Health Procurement and Supply chain Management. Mmatalenta has over 25 years’ experience of practicing Pharmacy in international development, government and private sector in Botswana and, currently, in Ethiopia. Mmatalenta is passionate about improving access to care and has been instrumental in ensuring mental health patients accessing psychotropic treatment where they are, a concept of reaching out to clients and not vice versa. She played the role of team leader in the computerization of four hospitals and initiated a platform across government pharmacies to share inventory data to ensure prudent use of commodities and minimize wastage in Botswana. Currently, Mmatalenta’s main focus is to provide quality medicines to staff of the African Union Headquarters, staff of the fifty four (54) African embassy staff and their dependents in Addis Ababa.

Viwe Mtwesi is an electrophysiologist currently at McMaster university in Canada . Trained in internal medicine and cardiology in South Africa , graduating as the youngest cardiologist in 2017 in the continent ,earning her a scholarship to further her studies in electrophysiology .

She is a vibrant 35 year old with great interest in clinical research ,teaching and development of the medical fraternity in Africa .
Her name has appeared on different Deans list for different achievements ,but what she values the most is the opportunity she had of being in the team that took care of the late tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela .

She serves on different boards , including the Biotronik international fellows advisory council ,HF education foundation and is the Director and founder of Reeega medical tourism .
This young woman grew up in the rural Eastern Cape in South Africa but her background never stopped her from dreaming , she is currently doing health innovation and entrepreneurship program with McMaster in preparation for her new business venture in the pharmaceutical industry which forms part of the Reeega group .
Her passion for mentoring and education is evident with different mentoring programs she is involved in .

She is also a visiting lecture for the department of cardiology Witwatersrand , where she mentors a lot of young cardiologists in training .

I have a Masters in science Nursing Critical care option from the University of Nairobi, a bachelor of science Nursing from Great Lakes university of Kisumu and certification in critical care Nursing by The Aga khan Hospital Kisumu.
I am a certified advanced life support courses provider and instructor. My vast experience as a critical care nurse, nurse educator and manager, has instilled in me resourcefulness, insight, integrity and accountability. I have vast experience of ten years as a clinical critical care nurse. I have also worked in the ICU in the capacity of head of department and senior nurse/nurse educator /instructor mentoring critical care students and novice nurses. I have years of experience in prehospital emergency care. I have actively been part of medical industry conferences, networking events for both pre-hospital and in hospital care providers. I am an active member of the Kenya critical care chapter.
My dream is to see an emergency work force that is well trained to positively impact the health system by significantly reducing mortality rates in our emergency departments.
