Our Mentors
Mmatalenta is a Pharmacist with specialization in Toxicology. She holds a postgraduate diploma in Global Health Procurement and Supply chain Management. Mmatalenta has over 25 years’ experience of practicing Pharmacy in international development, government and private sector in Botswana and, currently, in Ethiopia. Mmatalenta is passionate about improving access to care and has been instrumental in ensuring mental health patients accessing psychotropic treatment where they are, a concept of reaching out to clients and not vice versa. She played the role of team leader in the computerization of four hospitals and initiated a platform across government pharmacies to share inventory data to ensure prudent use of commodities and minimize wastage in Botswana. Currently, Mmatalenta’s main focus is to provide quality medicines to staff of the African Union Headquarters, staff of the fifty four (54) African embassy staff and their dependents in Addis Ababa.

Viwe Mtwesi is an electrophysiologist currently at McMaster university in Canada . Trained in internal medicine and cardiology in South Africa , graduating as the youngest cardiologist in 2017 in the continent ,earning her a scholarship to further her studies in electrophysiology .
She is a vibrant 35 year old with great interest in clinical research ,teaching and development of the medical fraternity in Africa .
Her name has appeared on different Deans list for different achievements ,but what she values the most is the opportunity she had of being in the team that took care of the late tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela .
She serves on different boards , including the Biotronik international fellows advisory council ,HF education foundation and is the Director and founder of Reeega medical tourism .
This young woman grew up in the rural Eastern Cape in South Africa but her background never stopped her from dreaming , she is currently doing health innovation and entrepreneurship program with McMaster in preparation for her new business venture in the pharmaceutical industry which forms part of the Reeega group .
Her passion for mentoring and education is evident with different mentoring programs she is involved in .
She is also a visiting lecture for the department of cardiology Witwatersrand , where she mentors a lot of young cardiologists in training .

Arv Kalsi continues to lead the Lions Diabetes Care Centres as a Strategic Consultant for business expansion as well as working on other therapy areas such as Cardiology and Women’s Health. Recently Aratus Health Limited founded 'DiaBeaters' an online patient support platform on Facebook and Instagram in light of COVID-19 pandemic to bring together the Diabetes community, which was launched end of March 2020.
She is the Chief Editor of a Quarterly 'DiaBeaters Magazine', for people with Diabetes, their families and for healthcare professionals.
Arv is also a Director of FALG (Foot and Limb Group Limited), to address education in wound management and to reduce amputation rates in Kenya.

Coyie Mathenge is the Founder, CEO and Contract QPPV at PVCC Limited, a rapidly growing consultancy firm that specializes in Pharmacovigilance & Drug Safety services. Additionally, she serves as the current treasurer at the new ISoP Africa Chapter serving for the period 2019-2022.
She is a Kenyan registered Pharmacist by profession and holds an MSc in Pharmacovigilance and Pharmacoepidemiology from the EU2P program via the University of Bordeaux, France
Coyie has over 14 years of experience in Pharmaceutical expertise cutting across various roles both public and corporate sectors. Some of these roles awarded her management and leadership roles where her main drive was to enhance patient centricity and customer centricity awareness in all levels of leadership decision making processes. Despite reaching this level of career success at a young age, Coyie’s passion has always been in the discipline of Pharmacovigilance and drug safety and this saw her leave formal employment in 2018, so as to advance and better advocate for quality PV and Drug safety services in Africa.
She is currently in private practice where she has continued to a) consult for 50+ global and local organizations established in Africa cutting across Human Health, Animal Health, Cannabis Derived Products, Cosmetics and Medical Devices divisions and b) provides independent expert advice to policy makers interested in Africa development initiatives. When time allows, Coyie provides public awareness via media (print media publications, TV and Radio interviews) as well as offer wholesome one to one mentorship & coaching to young Pharmacists all across Africa with a keen interest in joining corporate Pharma.

During her tenure at the CSIR, she has been involved in several Industrial Biotechnology based research and development projects, which include the development of a production process of an abalone probiotic, a multi-strain broiler probiotic, human probiotics, biological control agents for use in agriculture as well as biological agents for use in wastewater treatment and industrial R&D effluent. These activities have culminated in several technical outputs, which include a patent, peer-reviewed publications, book chapters as well as presentations at local and international conferences.
